A Deep Diving in Afro-Brasilian Music & Culture
In short: BATALA is an international percussion group that was founded in 1997 from the Brasilian percussionist Mestre Giba Goncalves dos Santos. Our music (Samba reggae style) was born in Salvador, Bahia of northeast Brasil, keeps its roots in African traditional rhythms of candomble and has a heavy dose of Brazilian samba. The group performs this music in four different types of drums producing a powerful dynamic sound that rouses your senses. This year Batala Atenas proudly presents the 2nd Batala Summer Drum Camp at the beautiful island of Paros, in the center of the Aegean sea in Greece. Guests Mestres: The Founder of Batala Mestre Giba (Batala/Cortejo afro).

BATALA DRUM CAMP presents 6 days full of intensive percussion masterclasses, dance workshops, live shows, round-table discussions, and much more!
Working languages: Greek , English, Portuguese, French.
Participants: Percussionists and enthusiasts of ALL AGES and ALL LEVELS are welcome to apply for a place. The number of available instruments is strictly limited. “First come-First served” until all places are filled.
